8/28 – Opinionated Article

A modern opinionated article on New York Times stated, “I saw immediately that several people — friends, acquaintances, fellow synagogue members — had texted me the same disturbing image. It was a Twitter profile with the name “David Goldberg.” The bio read; “Orthodox Jew against the apartheid state of Israel.” But the profile picture was of her husband Benjamin. The social media account had posted a picture that was pro-boycotting Israel. After digging deeper into the identity theft of other Jews, they saw a few more profiles began to appear on social media, most posing as Orthodox Jews promoting anti-Semitic and anti-Israel content. After reading this Opinion Op-ed story it left me amazed because it never occurred to the family that they’d have to go through this. It also showed me that the world can be a cold place and to be prepared and to be safe when it comes to personal social media.

After reading through the article I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m a Questioner, because I’ve realized that on assignments/projects I tend to have a lot of questions and I start overthinking if what I’m doing is the correct way to do it or not. I am going to thrive in this class and my future by asking the questions that come to mind and making sure I’m well prepared for what’s coming.

Tropical Storm Dorian is churning west toward several Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico, where many are still traumatized from 2017’s deadly Hurricane Maria. The storm is expected to turn into a hurricane after it passes the Windward Islands today. Many different people are helping out that community to the best of their ability to prevent such damages and death. 8/22 – Homework

The benefits of blogging for an English class is that it is a good way to put all of your ideas out on a platform to see in physical form and to get feedback by others reading your blog. Also it’s a good opportunity for exploring and developing motivations for writing. Constantly writing will benefit not only writing skills but our vocabulary and the way we speak in regular conversation. Keeping a blog would be a good idea because blogging is a good way to express ones feelings about a certain subject. As Reid stated, “On a blog you control the subject matter, the length, the format, the timing of your posts, and all the other characteristics of your writing.”
