In Essay 1 I had only a couple grammar/punctuational errors throughout my essay. I had a capitalization error in the title, “Martin Luther King’s I have a dream Speech” which I forgot to capitalize all the words in the title which I should’ve.
Essay 3
More than 25 million of the US population has used/uses Marijuana on a constant basis. Since the early 1900’s Marijuana has been a controversial issue in America; many believe that it should stay prohibited and others agree that it should be legalized recreationally and all across the US. Stated by Geiger, “ About six-in-ten Americans (62%) say the use of marijuana should be legalized, according to a fall 2018 survey.” Although there are not many body harming side effects of using Marijuana it is classified as a Class A drug along with Heroin, Crack cocaine, and Meth. When one thinks about Marijuna nobody believes it belongs in the same group as those body harming drugs. Everybody argues what will Marijuana do to the community but nobody thinks what it will do for the government if it is legalized recreationally.
If Marijuana is legalized recreationally including medically it will boost the economy by a great margin. The Marijuana industry in the United States could exceed $24 million in revenue by 2025 according to Procon.org. The government is in debt with many countries and will continue to stay in debt due to the government’s spending habits. The government needs this boost in economy to keep the country stable. They also need to start worrying about more important crimes and more critical to the community. According to ACLU.org, “Marijuana arrests now account for over half of all drug arrests in the United States. Of the 8.2 million marijuana arrests between 2001 and 2010, 88% were for simply having marijuana.” When Marijuana was legalized in Washington it freed police sources and Marijuana possession arrests dropped from 5,531 to 120 in the year after.
Everybody knows there is a difference between having a small amount of marijuana and having a great amount and having intentions to sell although for both occasions the consequences do not differ from each other. Marijuna helps the human body relax and helps with other bodily pains such as chronic pain, headaches, and any other body part pain. Marijuana also helps people to play sports or are active in general with stiff muscles and helps people with MS to improve much faster and better according to experts. The CBD (Cannabidiol) in the Marijuana soothes the body and helps with seizures according to scientists.
If Marijuana is legalized recreationally then it will decrease the crime rate by a good margin and help the law enforcement have more time for more important cases. In 2010 54% of arrests made were for having possession of Marijuna but most of the percentage were people with small amounts of it in possession (ProCon.org). The amount of crime and violence caused by alcohol is 10 times as much as to people who use Marijuana. Alcohol is legalized recreationally but is the cause of 40% violent crimes.
Although there are many pros of the issue of the legalization of Marijuana there are many cons. A great argument for that it should stay illegal is that it will increase in use of the teens and young adults which will result in more car accidents due to being under the influence with the teens being the greater portion of the population driving on the roads today. Many also will state that Marijuana is addictive and a gateway drug. According to Procon.org, “According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, as many as four million Americans meet the diagnostic criteria for a marijuana use disorder, such as abuse, dependence, or addiction.”

All of my class mates agree with my topic that Marijuana should be legal but not all agree that it should be legalized recreationally. Me and my classmates agreed that there are no problems regulated with Marijuana use.

Claim: Legalize the recreational use of marijuana
Grounds: It will make Law Enforcement focus on more criminal-like issues. For the people that actually need it for pain they won’t have to stress about getting caught.
Warrants/Backing: I have family that is serving a great amount of time in jail for petty use of marijuana where there are bigger issues where they live such as corrupt government and other hardcore drugs. Marijuana is classified as a Class A drug along with heroin and crack, and marijuana doesn’t belong with those body harming drugs.

How big of an issue is this? The Immigration Policy is currently one of the most debated topic in the United States.
How do you know (what evidence is there)? There are many articles that revolve around this topic on the most credible and known sources such as CNN, FOX News, New York Times, etc…
What communities does it affect? It affects the Latino community and a great portion of the United States citizens.
Which communities does it negatively affect the most? The Republican Party and whoever supports the party.
Am I a part of or do I empathize with these communities? I am a part of the community that demands change in the immigration policy and that the treatment of immigrants is unfair because they just want a better life for them and their families.
What are their perspectives on the issue? Many agree with my argument above but also many believe that immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to become U.S. because they will infect our communities and destroy America.
What are other opinions on the issue (informed, uninformed, and misinformed)? There are many perspectives on this issue; Immigrants are only coming to the United States for abetter life but many also think that they’re coming to America to destroy our Community by selling drugs/committing crimes.
Why is this issue important to me? Why should it be of importance to my classmates? It is important to me because I have immigrant family members that they came to America just for a better life and to get away from the corruption of Mexico. They came here to feel safer and have a better life for themselves and their family.

Personal Narrative
It was summer break of my sophomore year going to junior year. I was with my friends and we had nothing to do, so we went to the mall. After walking around the mall for a couple hours we were bored so we decided to go to one last store, Dillards. After walking around the whole 2-story store we headed to the Polo Ralph Lauren clothing section which was the brand I liked and wore the most; one of my favorite clothing brands to this day. After looking at the selection for a good while one of my friends had told me that they would shoplift from this store since there’s never anyone working in this section. They also said that it’s super easy because the doors to leave is only a couple feet away from this section. The other friend I was with didn’t want to not because he knew it was wrong but he had already stole something from a different store.
After I had been looking at what I wanted I stuck with two regular Polo t-shirts. I had told my friends to get away from me to make it less suspicious. So after a couple minutes went by and no worker was to be seen I grabbed the shirts and put them in my pants. My friends saw me from a distance and after I gave them the signal to leave they walked out the door first. I’m walking towards the door and after I turn the corner to walk to my friends car a big built man with black sunglasses slammed me against the wall and told me, “Let’s go back inside.” I was super confused but as he grabbed me by my shirt with a death grip and took me inside it all became obvious; he was a secret shopper and security for the store. As we walked into the security room my friends were nowhere to be found and I thought to myself that I was so screwed. There were 2 security officials in the room and they began questioning me. I began to lie because I didn’t want them to know the real me. They snatched my phone from my hand were reading the notifications. That kind of ticked me off because they have no authority to do that so my attitude changed entirely.
I figured my friends were texting in the groupchat and worried about because my phone was blowing up with so many text and call notifications. They began to ask me who was in the groupchat and who I had come to the mall with. I just kept my mouth shut. They called in the mall officer and he began to ask for my information, I answered his questions because he actually had the authority to ask me questions. And after giving him all my information he handcuffed me and took me to the nearest precinct where I had to wait for my mother to pick me up. The worst part was that I had to call her which made me feel 10x worse. The whole time I was in the holding cell I was just thinking, “What are my parents gonna do?” 45 minutes go by and my mom arrives to pick me up where the officials are explaining to her what had happened and what is going to happen since I had gotten arrested. I had disappointed her a lot to the point where she started crying. After the officers had given her the paperwork we were walking out to her car. As we were a couple feet away from the car my mom asks for my phone where she then puts it behind the wheel and runs it over.
The car ride home felt so long and since I was in big trouble I had to think of something to do to keep myself busy during the rest of summer. My mom was scolding me the whole ride home and I don’t blame her. If I could redo that day I definitely would. I felt so bad not even because my mom would have to pay for the costs but I had let her down; that was the worst feeling ever. My mom is the lenient parent and I felt so bad disappointing her how I did. When we arrived at home the first thing my mom did was unplug my game console, my TV and take my car keys away. My dad was working at the time and I was nervous to see what his punishment was going to be; my mom told me that my dad wanted us to go eat at the restaurant where was working so I was sure that he already knew what was happening.
After spending the next couple of hours in my room cleaning and organizing everything because I didn’t have anything else to keep me busy. My mom came to my room and we began to talk about the situation and what I was going to have to do to get it off my record. I needed to write an apology letter, do an online shoplifting program and do at least 10 hours of community service. I immediately apologized to my mom for putting her through this and I told her that she didn’t deserve this and her and my dad had raised me better. She then began to tell me that this should be a lesson not always will I get away with things. At the time I was 16 so after I did what I had to do It would get off my record.
My mom told me to get ready to go to my dads work. When we arrived he began to talk to me and he didn’t seem mad he told me he was just mad that I put my mom through that and that I disappointed her. After we ate an entree we paid the bill and went home. After the next couple months of me being grounded and I finished my community service and the online program I went to see my parole officer where she asked me questions if I would do it again and if I learned my lesson and of course I said yes.
In conclusion, what I did was not worth it at all because disappointing your parents is the worst feeling. Losing your parents trust and trying to earn it back was very difficult for me. That is why I immediately got a job and paid my mom back for all the costs. Now that I am making my own money I don’t have to steal and break any laws those days were over for me.

1) My current setting is my school, Pima CC East. It’s much smaller than other Pima campuses and has less people than the other campuses. Community colleges are meant to not be as big as Universities. Im surrounded by people I don’t know, I have a handful of people that attend here that I know.
2) The setting of my story is mostly in a mall. A small one but a sufficient one as well. The Park Place Mall is located in East Tucson, Arizona. To be more specific although I walked around the whole mall, Dillards was the store I spent the most time at and where the climax occurs.
